CHANCE OPERATIONS
The Perfect Lovers are a six piece group founded in November 1998.
At this point in time we are one of the few around Brisbane who do improv in a
group context(the others being The Lost Domain and Snow Husky).
Our music is based upon an organic interaction between all the people in the band.
In no way is our music composed. Individual members might think about
how they are going to approach their instrument prior to the show and at times
we do come up with a starting point but as ever it is all down to chance on the evening.
There is no rehearsal beforehand. Some shows might be atmospheric, others
will be an assault (like at Club Oops, tee hee hee) or something else altogether.
In general we like to create a wall of sound.
The lineup as it stands is Michael Baker(keyboards), Jamie Hume(metal perc.),
Adam Park(bass, powertools, tapeloops), & Donat Tahiraj(guitars)
with new members Rin Healey(whatever she feels like doing) and Marek Rygielski(gtr).
Also involved have been Cheryl Siecker(vocals/other instruments),
and Mark Skelton(guitars), who are both living in other cities at the moment.
In us various strands of the avant-garde conjoin to create a multi-layered wall of sound.
Sometimes even a melody comes out of the noise.
It's just like Russian roulette.
