Idiots Avante

Idiots Avante

Idiots Avante was once described as GNNNNNERRRRRR-CHK-CHK-CHK. This is possibly the worst way to begin, but it seems somewhat apt. Beginning as experiments with effects pedals, it has grown into a large-scale exploration
of organic sound. Pieces are primarily guitar based, though it might be hard to tell. Harmonicas, Contact mics, gallon drums and a mysterious box covered in switches are also used. The resulting creations take in everything from ambience to harsh noise.

It is possibly a reaction to the prevalence/dominance of laptops in experimental sound. But maybe it's just silly noises. This entire chaotic concept is orchestrated by Nick Smethurst, who doesn't consider his biographical details important. Or interesting. The music is though, we promise. Comparisons have ranged from Brian Eno to Jim O'Rourke to the Durutti Column. But it would be preferred if you'd make your own.
